False acting, often referred to as "dishonest" or "fake" acting, is a performance where the actor forces an emotional state through artificial display rather than living truthfully under the scene's circumstances. Instead of genuinely listening and reacting to their scene partner, the actor merely indicates or "telegraphs" the emotions they believe the audience expects to see.
